Western Ledgens

This is the beauty down Johnson Canyon.......of course this is from the safety of the air condition vehicle. We had a blast at Western Ledgens, it was a beautiful and hot in Kanab.
Doug and his friend got in trouble. I took a picture of them before the nice jail men let him out for good behavior. Shame on you Doug.

These next three pictures are of the Gunsmoke set. Sad to see how it has not been taken care of.
Our little friend that came to visit one night. See even the heat bleached him.

This is Doug and Johnny Western. He played guitar with Johnny Cash for years and is the voice behind several well know movie theme songs....Bonanza, Have guns will travel, Gunsmoke...
Yep me and Gabby....it was at least 150 that day.
This is a look-a-like of Gabby Hays......he was a really funny guy.
This is one of the plaques that line the main street of Kanab. Every year they put up about 4 more different ones of people that made movies in the Kanab area "Little Hollywood" or of people that were significant in some way to the area. This was Doug's favorite. This is Doug and Aubree hanging out just to get there pictures taken in western town. That is where some parts of old movie sets are put back together and hang out together....it was really cool to see.
This is Doug with Ed Faulkner. He talked with Doug several times. The hat that Doug has on in this picture he had autographed by every star there that would. Now he loves that hat that much more (as if that was possible..hmmm).
This is Clint Walker. Doug & Dad was really excited to meet him, he was a super nice guy. they were even more excited to have him autograph there hats.
Doug made friends with every cowboy that he could find.

Blast in Kanab

This was a HUGE butterfly nesting on a flower by the pond at Best Friends animal sanctuary. Douggy took this picture......good job!!!!!
This is the gates to "Angels Rest" it is where over 4000 animals are buried, they have either been citizens of the best friends sanctuary or they have been placed there by their owners. It is really pretty here. Best Friends animal sanctuary is a no kill animal rescue operation. they have over 2000 residents at any given time.....most of them were cats. They have alot of different sections of the sanctuary. We went on a 1 1/2 hour tour of the facility. Aubree was in heaven and is already trying to plan how she can go down there and volunteer in the summers "when she is older".
This is a picture of the peak that the Lone Ranger and his horse use to go to and the horse would rare up at the end of every show. This peak is on the lighter part of the blue and the ledge sticks out......this is inside the animal sanctuary.
This is the entrance of the Moqui Cave the name is from the Moqui Indian tribe. Aubree is wondering were everyone has gone too.
This was to be a family picture but Grandpa headed into the cave and grandma was already in the cave.....while I was trying to get the camera out. I think they are either camera shy or they are both hard of hearing and did not hear me say picture time. Doug and Aubree were good sports.

These two pictures are inside the cave and are of the bar that was hand made by the man and his wife that purchased the cave and restored the inside. In one room there use to be a dance hall, this room use to be bar where they use to serve lemonade and root beer (of course).

This is a picture of the beautiful rocks as we are heading to the Moqui Cave and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

I love waterfalls and this is in Kanab.....isn't is beautiful against the red rocks. I was soooo excited to see this waterfall that I was thinking how wonderful this would be in our back yard in Rock Springs.......hahahahaAnother picture of the beautiful mountains turning red as we head to Kane County.

This a picture of the Big Rock Candy Mountain that is right before Kanab....it is suppose to look like taffy, I can see it can 't you????

This a picture of the beauty as we headed to Kanab Utah for a six nights and seven days of fun. We took Aubree with us and stayed in the same campground as Mom & Dad Edwards.

Day With Grandpa

We had Brodie over for the day yesterday and we had a blast !!! We walked about 17 steps by himself and we were really really excited. He LOVES to play with Doug.

After they played for a while they decided to rest but when Doug got on the floor to rest Brodie decided it was time to beat up grandpa. He is a total ham when he sees you get the camera out as you can see from the clip below

Wow we thought that our own kids grew up fast....our grandson is growing up faster we think.

After a long playful day FULL of excitement it was really nice to take him home to mom, but what are grandparents for......LOL.
